Welcome to Year 6!
Our day to visit the library will be a Monday, children are encouraged to choose their own reading books to take home. We have a range of books in the class and the school library.
In Year 6, children are encouraged to choose their own reading books to take home. We have a range of books in the class and the school library, and all children have their own log in for Reading Eggs.
PE will be on Tuesday and Fridays but we ask that children keep their PE kits in their lockers at all times. Our PE kit consists of a house-coloured top (as worn on sports days), dark shorts/ bottoms and appropriate footwear. No football kits. Please remember to tie up hair and remove earrings on PE days. Please note, children will still need a separate PE kit in school as children are not allowed to take part in PE in outdoor learning clothing.
Outdoor Learning is every other Wednesday children should come in dressed ready for outdoor learning. What is worn can be weather dependent as the children are outside without the option of this being inside for these sessions. Jeans and shorts are not to be worn due to the nature of activities children may take part in during these sessions. Arms and legs are to be covered (to protect against scratches and nettles) and clothing (including shoes) should be suitable to get dirty -we do have a mud kitchen in the outdoor learning space, and it can get a little boggy!

Homework
In Year 6, weekly homework is set every Wednesday and consists of spellings, home reading and revision tasks to prepare the children for the SAT tests in May.
The children will be using learning by questions to complete their homework. Children have an individual log in and have been using this in class and are all familiar with the platform.

Timetables
Times tables are still a major focus of children's learning and the school subscribes to Times Table Rockstars which is available on most devices as a website or an app. Children are encouraged to play at least 5 minutes of times table games at least 3 times a week at home, as well as working on times tables in class, and there are always various competitions and incentives throughout the year.Times Table Rockstars
