Pupil Premium Funding

The pupil premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers.

It was introduced in April 2011 to raise the attainment of 1.8 million disadvantaged pupils. The Government believes that the pupil premium is the best way to address the current inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers.
